About founder Paris Zarmairian

Hey, I’m Paris, the founder of Slice of Pie Supports!

Some quick facts about me:

  • My pronouns are she/they.

  • My surname is pronounced “Zah — mary — ahn”.

  • I am a queer, neurodivergent, BIPOC woman.

  • I am a proud Indigenous woman of the Armenian Highlands.

  • I’m Autistic, an ADHDer, and Gifted 2e. I have Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder, and I am absolutely ‘Chronically Fully Sick’ & a lover of all things Spoonie Society!

  • My special interest is in community welfare with a focus on disability.

  • Growing up, my special interest was in music with a focus on composing, until a lack of diagnosis caused an unmanaged autistic burnout.

  • I went to UNSW to study a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and German).

  • I have a diploma in opera singing.

  • And finally, I have a darling pet rabbit named Oreo (she/her), who I love SO much!!!!

There are so many slices to this pie!

I'm fortunate to be collaborating with Carers NSW as a national Carer Representative, and as a member of the Young Carer Advisory Group.

Some favourite wholesome moments include:

  • Consulting for respected British professor, Prof. Mary Larkin.

  • Podcast guesting on the YC Bytes podcast.

    • See S1 Ep 4, 5

  • Guest speaking at the inaugural Carer Knowledge Exchange: Research Incubator 2022, presented by NSW Government, UTS and Carers NSW.

  • Being referred to UNSW to consult on their care and disability research projects; one of which is now set to expand into a three-year research program, and I'm humbled to continue my involvement in this important work.

A secret pie ingredient.

Between the ages of 12 — 17, I used to travel interstate and internationally, performing beautiful music by other composers, and sharing some of my own pieces. It was a special time. I’ll forever be humbled by so many things, but most especially by the moment the Sydney Opera House commissioned me for an original work. It was so long ago (I was 13) but it still feels so surreal to admit!

I LOVE what I do. I'm so passionate about making a difference.

A pie made with love.

Aside from my professional work, I'm actively involved in various neurodivergent community events, including:

  • Participating in Autism Australia’s Mardi Gras float.

  • Supporting queer and neurodivergent-owned small businesses at local markets & events.

  • Getting involved with the community at Addi Road Food Pantry!

Slice of Pie was a merger between my hobbies and career.

The intersection accidentally became a circle!

You can expect the news and media section of this website to link to past media publications and in future it will be used to highlight advocacy topics, mention upcoming media appearances and guest speaking gigs, research and current news related to the advocacy topics I am passionate about … and maybe some cute photos of Oreo when she is being a great therapy bunny!
